2012 paris motor show. bentley continental gt3

The last time we saw Bentley on the motorsport scene, the boys in British Racing Green were holding a large trophy above their heads with ’24 Heures de Le Mans’ written on it. That was nine years ago though, and give or take another stab at the big prize or two, it looked like that might well be it for the boys from Crewe for a while.

Now though Bentley has re-shown its racing muscle by unveiling its new Continental GT3 model at this year’s Paris Motor Show. Yep, Continental. No prototype models this time. Bentley is instead looking to take the GT scene by storm.
In terms of specs, we’re a little in the dark. What we can confirm though about the new model, which is being developed by a dedicated motorsports outfit at Crewe, is that the new GT3 model is rear-wheel drive in accordance with the regulations, and will more than likely make its track debut in the latter half of next season.
Outright speed is not the only order of the day with the new model, which can be configured to run endurance events too. Seems theBentley boys may yet take another stab at the Le Mans 24hrs, though not in the same LMP2 thick of it.
