Peugeot 308 sets car fuel economy records to a new high

Powered by a new three-cylinder engine, the Peugeot 308, has set new fuel economy records by travelling 1,810km on 51.4 litres
After flaunting the title of the European Car of the Year 2014, the Peugeot 308 has yet another feather in their cap. The French carmaker has completed its range of the Peugeot 308 by introducing the new PureTech 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which produces a maximum power of 130PS. This engine has set new fuel economy records by travelling 1,810km on 51.4 litres.
The six-speed manual equipped Peugeot 308 was driven for 32 hours at the Almeria circuit in Spain, on a fuel tank of 51.4 litres, and was officially witnessed by the authority Union Technique de l’Automobile, Motocycle et Cycle (UTAC). The car set an official record of 2.85 litres per 100km.

The turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine is set to make its commercial debut on the Peugeot 308 at the end of March 2014. The engine claims combined cycle fuel consumption of 4.6 litres per 100km and CO2 emissions of 107kmpg in the Peugeot 308.
The new Peugeot 308 is available with a choice of five petrol engines (from 80 to 155PS) and five diesel engines (from 90 to 150PS). The PureTech 1.2-liter three-cylinder unit will also be available on the Peugeot 208 hatchback and Peugeot 2008 crossover in an 110PS version in the coming weeks.
