The 2014 Lamborghini Veneno Roadster made its highly anticipated debut on an aircraft carrier in Abu Dhabi.
Priced at a whopping Rs. 28.56 crore (£2.8 million), this new Italian supercar-the 2014 Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, one of only nine to be made, was shown on the flight deck of the 240meter Italian military aircraft center.
Docked in the city as part of a trade mission tour of the Middle East and Africa, the 240m aircraft carrier is promoting Italian-made goods. Lamborghini was chosen to represent the Italian car industry as part of the trade mission, with the company saying it has an "extremely strong" customer base in the region for its cars.
Commenting on the occasion, Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini boss said, "We are honoured that Lamborghini was chosen to represent the Italian car industry in the UAE, as a perfect example of iconic Italian super sports cars, and that we have the opportunity to show the Veneno Roadster for the first time in Abu Dhabi." He also added, "The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster is one of the world’s most exclusive cars with the most extraordinary performance."
The Veneno Roadster is powered by a mid-mounted 6.5-litre V12 engine developing 740bhp, and is mated to a semi-automatic gearbox with five shift modes. The Roadster can reach 0-100kph in just 2.9 seconds and can accelerate to a top speed of 354kph.
The company also plans to open a new showroom in Abu Dhabi, which it believes will boost the sales.
