Porsche announces prices for 911 GT3, Turbo and Turbo S

The flagships of the 911 range have been launched in India. We bring you some details.

Porsche India has officially but quietly launched the 911 Turbo, Turbo S a few weeks ago in India. Also available for the first time ever in India is the track ready version of the 911, the GT3. The flagship models in the 911 range, the Turbo family have supercar levels of performance going up against the likes of the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Lamborghini Gallardo. The new 911 family, known to Porsche aficionados as the 991 family (as the internal factory development code is 991), was launched in India last year with the Carrera S and then subsequently the Carrera 4S. Earlier this year, Porsche India also introduced the Carrera and Carrera S Cabriolets and the Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S cabriolets in India.

The 911 Turbo is equipped with a 3.9 Litre straight 6 engine with two turbochargers producing 527Ps or peak power and 660Nm or 710Nm with the ‘Overboost’ option that is available exclusively with the Sport Chrono Package. The 911 Turbo claims a top speed of 315Kmph and a 0-100kmph time of a staggering 3.2seconds. The Porsche 911 Turbo is available only with the PDK dual clutch gearbox which ensures the best blend of power delivery and fuel efficiency. The 911 Turbo is priced at Rs 2.19 Crore (ex-showroom, Delhi)

The 911 Turbo S, as the name suggests is the sportier version of the 911 Turbo. Although the Turbo S uses the same inherent engine block and components from the 911 Turbo, the Turbo S makes a staggering 568Ps of power and 700Nm or 750Nm with the ‘Overboost’ option that is available exclusively in the Sport Chrono Package. The 911 Turbo S has a top speed of 317Kmph and a 0-100Kmph time of 3.1 Seconds. Like the Turbo, the Turbo S is also available only with the PDK gearbox and not with a manual option. Both the Turbo and Turbo S feature distinctly wider wheel arch fenders at the rear with an integrated air intake for the intercoolers. The Turbo and Turbo S also feature a large electric rear wing that helps with cooling and is also an aerodynamic aid. The 911 Turbo S will be the most expensive 911 of the current range and will cost Rs 2.66 Crore (ex-showroom, Delhi)

The 911 GT3 on the other hand is a completely different animal. The GT3, based roughly on the 911 Carrera S, uses the same 3.8 Litre block as the 911 Turbo does albeit without the added twin-turbos. The 911 GT3 features track ready equipment like a factory fitted roll-cage that replaces the rear seats, a fire extinguisher and a centre lock wheel that can be replaced quickly under race conditions. The GT3’s 3.8 Litre engine makes 482Ps of peak power and 440Nm of peak torque. The GT3 also features a more aggressive stance as compared to the regular Carrera S, with a bigger and more aggressive intake on the front bumper and a large fixed adjustable rear wing for racing applications. The GT3 has a claimed top speed of 315Kmph and a 0-100Kmph time of 3.5 seconds. The GT3 will cost a modest Rs 2.13 Crore (ex-showroom, Delhi)
