The Indian Auto Expo will be held at two separate venues from the 6th-11th February 2014
At a recent briefing to the Media, the Society of Indian Automotive Manufacturers (SIAM) revealed a few key points with regards to the upcoming 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The 2014 Indian Auto Expo will be held as two independent shows, one comprising of automotive manufacturers and one comprising of component manufactures. For the first time, these two shows will be held in different locations, the Component Show being hosted by the traditional home of the Indian Auto Expo, the Pragati Maidan in Delhi between the 6th-9th February 2014 and the automotive manufacturers show being hosted at the Indian Expo Mart in Noida between the 7th-11th February 2014. The Press will get an exclusive access day on the 5th and 6th of February with these days also being used to unveil new cars for most manufacturers.
SIAM also released a few key facts and figures emphasizing on how the new venue that has been selected, i.e. the Indian Expo Mart has an advantage over the older Pragati Maidan due to its ultra modern facilities that allow event managers to build special modern enclosures that let the manufacturers display their new and existing products. For example, the new venue has a total of 2,35,000 sq. meters of area, out of which almost 75,000 sq. meters are fixed indoor exhibition centers of which over 60,000 sq. meters will be utilized for the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. An additional 18,000 sq. meters will be used for activities like driving simulators, motorcycle riding areas, electric and hybrid mobility city (including a driving experience) and a large vintage car display. An additional 32,000 sq. meters will be used for the likes of a VIP and media lounge, offices, food and beverage restaurants, and various entertainment acts.
On display at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo will be Cars, MUV and SUV manufacturers, two and three wheeler manufacturers, special and concept vehicle displays, commercial vehicles, supercars and superbike, vintage cars, engineering companies, oil companies, automotive design and technology companies and media houses with automotive publications. Some of the highlights of the show will include the likes of Datsun, BMW, Mercedes, Mini, Fiat, Maruti amongst many others. There are also a few less known foreign manufacturers like Mitsuoka that have demonstrated a keen interest in being present at the Auto Expo and will showcase a range of high performance sports cars from Japan.
The Indian Expo Mart in Noida, the venue for the 2014 Indian Auto Expo will have 14 exhibition halls, 3 outdoor hangers, an outdoor area for activities and food stalls and a total of 6 entry and exit gates. The Indian Expo Mart will also have parking for about 5000 automobiles and two wheelers about 500 meters from the venue with a constant shuttle service between the parking lot and the venue run at regular intervals. The Indian Auto Expo is also set to be loaded to the brim with airport-esque security measures to make sure the proceedings go on without a hitch.
