Price announcements –
Mahindra
Mahindra is the latest manufacturer to reduce prices on its cars. The rate cuts are in the range of Rs 13,000 to Rs 49,000 from the Verito Vibe all the way up to the XUV 500. This will benefit the SUV manufacturer as most of its models were hit by the excise hikes last March. Mahindra has also reduced prices of the SsangYong Rexton by up to Rs 92,000 for the top-end model.
Hyundai
Hyundai has announced a drop in prices from Rs 10,000 for the Eon to Rs 1.35 lakh for the Santa Fe. As you recall, the new Santa Fe was launched at the Auto Expo recently. Since the new price will be effective from 18 February, those who booked the flagship model in the past few weeks must be ruing their luck.
Volkswagen
Volkwagens will be cheaper too. The German carmaker has released a statement with reduced prices of the Polo, Vento and Jetta in the range of Rs 18,000 to Rs 51,000.
Nissan
Nissan has dropped prices on all its models by 4-6 percent passing on the entire benefit to customers. The price difference is in the range of Rs 13,000 to Rs 49,000 across the portfolio. This will benefit Nissan considerably to narrow the gap between the Terrano and EcoSport. And since waiting periods on the former are running into 6-8 months, the time is right for Nissan to cash in. The already economical Micra Active too becomes an even better value proposition.
