Bentley's long awaited SUV has finally been teased and will be launched in 2016.
Bentley’s long awaited SUV will be ready for production soon and will be launched in 2016. The traditional British automaker, known for its uber comfortable luxury cars and high powered and equally luxurious Grand Tourers will be stepping into the ultra competitive luxury SUV segment for the first time. Bentley, a part of the Volkswagen group, will have a whole host of parts to rummage around in for parts for their all-new car.
Bentley unveiled the concept version of the upcoming SUV, the EXP 9F concept at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show effectively revealing its plans to enter the SUV segment. Bentley, in a recent statement has promised that the new Bentley SUV will be the most powerful and most luxurious SUV ever. Bentley has also stated that the new SUV will create a new segment all on its own and will be one of the most anticipated cars of 2016. In the singular picture that Bentley has released, the new SUV has a very Bentley-esque front fascia and is estimated to have large dimensions, just like the concept that was released in 2012.
Bentley has received over 2000 pre-bookings for the new SUV even though the final product has never been shown to the public. The new SUV is expected to go into production by the end of 2015 and will be produced in Bentley’s factory in Crewe in the United Kingdom. Bentley have announced that they will be investing about £ 800 million in their new factory to keep up the demand that is expected.
Although the new Bentley SUV will make a segment of its own, it will go up against the likes of the Mercedes G63 AMG, the Range Rover, the Cadillac Escalade and the soon to be launched Lamborghini Urus along with Maserati’s new SUV offering. The new Bentley SUV will also share components with the likes of other Volkswagen group products like the next generation Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne along with possible powertrain sharing with the likes the new Lamborghini Urus. The new Bentley SUV is also rumoured to get a hybrid option along with a wide variety of internal combustion options. We expect the new Bentley SUV to be priced between Rs 2.5-3.5 crore for the standard, non-personalised base model and upto Rs 4 crore for a fully loaded, top of the line version.
