Mercedes' pinnacle of luxury in its all-new avatar launches today
Mercedes-Benz will launch the all-new W222 series S-Class in Delhi today. We expect Mercedes to price its flagship sedan around Rs 1.3 crore ex-showroom for the S500. It will be available in one version only at the launch.
The S-Class in its latest form takes a huge technological leap from its predecessor. The car doesn’t have a single conventional light bulb which are instead replaced by LEDs, the regular car battery is swapped for a lithium-ion one and you can get six different 15 minute massages sitting inside the car. The S-Class has a 24 speaker 1540 Watt Burmester 3DSurround system that comes with a 250GB hard disk for all your media storage.
Mercedes-Benz India dealers have officially started taking bookings for the new S Class that will be launched next year
The new Mercedes-Benz S Class was revealed globally in May 2013 to raving reviews, will be launched in India in the first quarter of next year but a few dealers have already started taking bookings for the flagship offering. The new S Class, codenamed the W222, will first be offered only in the S500 guise with a V8, twin turbo, Petrol engine producing 461PS.
We’ve seen many reviews of the all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class lately, and the unanimous opinion is that the new luxury sedan is a class above all of its competitors. However, when it comes to luxury cars, things are not that simple to classify. Nowadays, traditional luxury sedans face stiff competition from other luxury vehicles as well, like SUVs and four-door coupes.
This is why AutoExpress decided to test the S-Class against a traditional rival like the Audi A8 (albeit the pre-facelift model) and against a vehicle that theoretically belongs to another segment, the Land Rover Range Rover.
