India's renowned design house, DC Design is all set to make a jump from being just a design house to a full-fledged production house by unveiling a supercar at the upcoming Auto Show. The supercar has been designed and built entirely in India by DC Designs and will be produced in limited numbers that will be put together at the company’s Pune facility. The company plans to begin deliveries of the super car by the end of 2013, once it clears the requisite homologation process. Bollywood superstar, Amitabh Bachchan will unveil the supercar at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan. The design house claims that the supercar dons a footprint that is close to the Lamborghini Murcielago or Aventador.
The 'desi' super car will be powered by a turbocharged V6 petrol Honda engine that will be positioned behind the driver, between the two axles, like most of the European mid-engined super cars. The super car with a kerb weight close to 1550kg will offer more than 400PS of max power.
Ace designer, Dilip Chhabria said, "With this car, we are making the transformation from a design house to a production house. It will offer the looks, feel, dimensions, quality, fit and finish comparable to super cars from Lamborghini and Ferrari, minus the horsepower."
DC Designs will manufacture 300 units in the first year and will later surge the production to 3000 units. "It will come at an attractive price point. We are looking at a price of under Rs 30 lakh on-road." Dilip Chhabria quoted. The firm initially had planned to name the super car 'Buddh' after India's Formula One Circuit. But due to a lack of a positive response for the name, the design house will be come up with a new one.
