Celebrating 10 million C-Class sold globally, Mercedes-Benz India launches the new 'Edition C'
The Mercedes C Class is one of India’s largest selling luxury cars. This trend however is not limited to the Indian market but reflected worldwide. Mercedes Benz has officially sold over 10 million units of this entry level luxury saloon worldwide and to commemorate this unique landmark, Mercedes-Benz India has launched the limited production run ‘Edition C’.
The ‘Edition C’ will only be offered in the highest selling variant, the C220 CDi, and will be offered for a limited production run of only 500 units. The ‘Edition C’ features added extras like the AMG body kit, which includes a sporty front bumper, a sporty rear bumper with a larger tail pipe and a set of AMG inspired side skirts. The ‘Edition C’ will also include a set of one-off 17-inch AMG wheels that match the C-Class’ sport credentials. The ‘Edition C’ also features a set of darkened headlamp units, just like the ones found on the C63 AMG and come with special ‘EDITION C’ badges on the fender.
On the interior font, the ‘Edition C’ will feature sports seats, similar to the ones features in the AMG models combined with the use of special fabrics. The seats now come draped in a special Artico/Dinamica microfiber material combined with one-off stitching in a contrasting grey and blue color. The ‘Edition C’ also features a slightly superior infotainment system with built in navigation.
Speaking on the occasion, Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “The C-Class remains one of Mercedes-Benz’ best-sellers in the competitive entry level luxury sedan segment. To celebrate the success story of the C-Class which sold more than 10 million units globally, we are excited to present the ‘Edition C’ for our Indian customers. The ‘Edition C’ with its dynamic and sporty exterior, specially designed luxurious interiors, innovative engineering and impressive efficiency is aninspiring car and will continue to set newer benchmarks in design, quality and luxury for the segment.”
As mentioned earlier, the ‘Edition C’ will be offered in the C220 CDi. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class ‘Edition C’ features a 4-cylinder diesel engine with the highly acclaimed 7G-Tronic Plus, dual clutch automatic transmission. The 2143cc engine produces 170PS of power and 400Nm or peak torque.
