The Monterey car week is in full swing. There’s plenty to see including a new special edition Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe Aviator Collection. It’s limited to just 35 examples inspired by Charles Stewart Rolls and the Supermarine S.6B award winning seaplane. They celebrate Rolls-Royce’s simultaneous world speed records on land, air and in the water.
The new Phantom Coupe comes from the Rolls-Royce Bespoke department. The car on display at The Quail is finished in Aviator Grey with a contrasting matt bonnet, window and grille surround. Inside, it features a blend of wood and metal with a Thommen, aviation-grade clock with blood orange needle tips embedded in the metal foil upper fascia.
Rolls-Royce also fitted the car with matt black dials for power reserve, speedometer and fuel gauges. The lower fascia is veneered mahogany and features Sapele contrast. Polished stainless steel veneer ‘onlays’ with bullet-shaped ends are designed to match floor mat fixings.
