Bugatti will debut a special edition Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse at The Quail today. The Quail is a motorsports gathering, held annually as part of the Monterey Car Week. It features a unique Bianco and Light Blue color scheme based on the famous 1928 Bugatti Type 37A, now owned by Jay Leno. It was a completely different concept to the Veyron, featuring a 80hp, supercharged inline-4. However, it did win the first Monaco Grand Prix which means it must be honoured with a special edition!
This special edition doesn’t get its own name, perhaps Bugatti ran out? However, the new light blue colour does get its own name: “New Light Blue”. The “Bianco” colour extends to the body including the roof area and the air scoops. The Blue covers the lower body panels including side skirting, front spoiler, radiator grille frame, rear apron with diffusor, the inner surfaces of the wheel rims and the underside of the spoiler. The interior features Cognac leather.
Underneath, it’s just a ‘normal’ Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. It offers an increased power output up to 1,200hp over the Grand Sport. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse is the most powerful serial produced convertible in the world. The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse’s maximum torque is an impressive 1,500Nm. The increases are made possible by the four enlarged turbochargers and intercoolers. Performance figures are 0 to 100km/h in 2.6 seconds with a top speed of 410 km/h (255 mph).
The chassis of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse has been modified to support the power increase. Body modifications include a new roof spoiler that reduces wind noise and buffeting in the interior. The Vitesse also gets plenty of new air intakes to aid cooling and a new front spoiler. To finish off the new design improved xenon headlights are fitted. At the rear, a double diffuser and a new set of dual exhaust tips.
Pictures should hopefully be released soon. In the mean time, enjoy the older picture above of the car at the factory.
