Ferrari 599XX Evo Sold to Google Exec for Charity

Ferrari recently held an auction for the benefit of Italian earthquake victims, and at this past weekend’s Italian Grand Prix, the 599XX Evo that sold for €1.4 million was presented to a Google executive.

The keys to the bright yellow 599XX Evowere handed off by Ferrari CEO Luca di Montezemolo to Google exec Benjamin Sloss in front of a crowd at the race. In total, the auction raisedabout $2.3 million for the Earthquake victims. Other items that sold include a 2008 V8 engine from the Scuderia car that won the 16th Constructors’ World Championship and an F1 racing suit worn by the legendary Giancarlo Fisichella.

The 599XX Evo that Sloss purchased sports a unique commemorative plaque signed by Chairman Luca di Montezemolo and two Ferrari race car drivers. It is an extreme sports car designed for track use, and makes 740 hp from the 6.0-liter V12 engine. The active aero package that has been added to the car also allows for 52 percent more downforce during corners.

“I would like to thank all the clients, collectors and enthusiasts that did their bit. Their bids have sent out a message of warmth and solidarity to the people in our region affected by this tragedy,” said Montezemolo.
