Peugeot teases new Onyx supercar

Peugeot has issued a teaser image and film of a new supercar to be unveiled at the Paris motor show later this month.
The Peugeot Onyx concept car bears the same double-bubble roofline as the French brand’s RCZ compact coupe, though the sleek supercar’s lid is much lower and more angular.

From what has been shown of the car, we can tell it has a powered rear spoiler similar to those seen on the Mini Roadster and Porsche 911, and it appears to have full LED headlights, daytime running lights and tail-lights.

The overhead glimpse of the car shows a two-tone colour scheme and a slightly wider rear-end, which may indicate that power will be sent to the rear wheels. The vents behind the rear glass indicate that one of the car’s motors will be housed at the rear. The Onyx is expected to have two motors.

Spanish site Autoblog.es claims the car will be powered by a hybrid drivetrain consisting of a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing close to 200kW working in tandem with an electric motor capable of about 90kW. The site says the concept is expected to use just 4L/100km – just a touch more than a Toyota Prius (3.9L).
