Hyundai's new Grand i10 finally gets a much-deserved Automatic gearbox
Hyundai India has finally launched the much awaited and expected automatic variant of the Grand i10 Automatic at Rs 5.64 and Rs 5.92 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the Sportz and Asta variants respectively. Hyundai had launched manual geared, petrol and diesel versions of the new Grand i10 earlier this year in September, instantly becoming one of the top 5 highest selling cars in India with over 20,000 bookings and a claimed 2,00,000 customer enquires.
The Grand i10 Automatic comes with a 4-speed conventional automatic gearbox mated to Hyundai’s 1.2 Litre Kappa VTVT petrol engine, producing 83PS of peak power and 113Nm of peak torque. The automatic version of the Grand i10 achieves 16.7 kmpl as per ARAI’s official test figures.
Speaking on the occasion, Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Hyundai Motor India Ltd, said, “We have launched the Grand in September this year and it has been extremely well received and due to positive customer feedback the automatic transmission in Grand has been introduced. The Grand automatic transmission further improves our value proposition offering smooth and effortless driving for customers. This will enhance the Modern, Sporty, Trendy and Progressive Styling of Hyundai brand in compact segment.”
Apart from the Grand i10, Hyundai also offers automatic transmissions in the i20, Elantra, Sonata and Santa Fe. As mentioned earlier, the Hyundai Grand i10 will be available in two trim levels, Sportz and Asta. The Asta will get added features like alloy wheels, rear spoiler, push button start and power windows. Hyundai has also discontinued sales of the i10 Automatic so as to avoid cannibalization in it’s own product range.
