Mercedes-Benz to unveil CLA45 AMG at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo

Mercedes-Benz will also launch the ML-Guard and will reveal the GLA Concept car at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo
2013 was most certainly one of the most favorable years in Mercedes-Benz India’s history. With a never ending and rather welcome onslaught of new vehicle launches and customer-oriented services alike, Mercedes-Benz managed to sell 9003 in 2013. Mercedes-Benz India had promised to bring its entire range of AMG powered vehicles to India by the end of 2014. With the Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG having been launched just over a month ago, Mercedes-Benz India will now launch its highly anticipated CLA45 AMG at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG will come with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 365PS of max power and 450Nm of peak torque. The CLA45 will come standard with Mercedes-Benz’s 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system and the new 7G-Tronic ‘SPEEDSHIFT’ dual-clutch gearbox.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG differentiates itself from the regular run of the mill CLA-Class which will be launched in India later this year with more distinctive and sportier styling cues. The ‘twin-blade’ grille in matte grey combined with the large front splitter, side air-cooling ducts and large air intakes combined with the ‘Turbo AMG’ badges on the front quarter panels make sure the CLA45 AMG looks more aggressive than its non-AMG brethren. AMG’s signature trapezoidal exhaust system with four outlets makes sounds that would put the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra to shame.
Commenting on the foreseeable launch of the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG, Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “We are very excited about our product and brand showcase for the 12th Auto Expo as we are going to unveil some of the most awaited cars for the Indian market.”

Mercedes-Benz will also extend its lineup of ‘Guard’ cars (bulletproof) with the new M-Guard being unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The biggest attraction though, in terms of Indian relevance will be the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class concept car. The GLA is Mercedes-Benz’s rival to the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1 and is extremely important for a SUV crazy country like India. Mercedes-Benz will also have on display the 2013 Mercedes-Benz AMG Petronas Formula 1 car driven by Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton.
