Audi has officially revealed that it will showcase the A3 sedan, RS7 and the R18 e-Tron Quattro Le Mans racer
Audi will showcase the A3 sedan at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo next month. The A3 sedan is due to be launched sometime later this year so the Expo will be a good platform for Audi to display the car to the Indian audience.
Generally, all luxury car manufacturers arrange private viewings at their enclosures for prospective customers and also rack up bookings for their cars at the Expo. The A3 sedan gives Audi the opportunity to target a younger audience as it will possibly be the most affordable Audi to go on sale in India. The luxury segment is branching out to more affordable models in India and the A3 sedan is part of this new-found opportunity in the entry luxury segment.
The A3 sedan will rival the Mercedes CLA class sedan that slots under the C-Class. It is called a sport limousine to distance it from the larger A4 ‘proper’ sedan but that doesn’t mean it is too small on the inside or a considerably lesser car. It will probably come with a 1.8-litre TFSI petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel motor in India, both familiar engines doing duty in the Audi range sold here. You can also expect the A3 sedan with the usual S-tronic dual-clutch gearbox as until recently, all Audi sold in India were automatics. But there is a good chance of a 6-speed manual gearbox equipped version being part of the A3 line-up if the new Q3S with the manual gearbox is successful here.
Audi will also display the recently launched RS7 Sportback at the expo and a sportier version of the Q5, the SQ5 will also be showcased. Tickling the motorsport enthusiast in you will be the Le Mans winning Audi R18 e-tron Quattro.
