Datsun has taken the wraps of the Redi-Go concept, showcased the seven seater Go+ MPV and Go hatchback
Datsun at its first ever Indian Auto Expo showcased two production cars in the Go and Go+ and also world premiered the Redi-Go crossover concept at the Expo fairground. The Redi-Go concept, says Datsun, previews a potential small crossover for the model line-up. As most crossover concepts, the Redi-Go is targeted at young people with active lifestyles.
The SUV stance on the Redi-Go can’t be ignored though and we won’t be surprised if it spawns a compact SUV too since this segment has taken the Indian market by storm. Besides the heightened suspension though, the Redi-Go looks like a tall-boy hatchback. It sports similar design cues seen in the Go and Go+ like the trapezoidal front grille, the elongated headlights that stretch towards the A-pillar and the prominent shoulder line. The rear features boomerang shaped taillights and a high set bumper. The Redi-Go concept has 2350mm ground clearance indicating its off-roading intensions and sports 15 inch alloy wheels.

Chevrolet globally unveiled an exciting new compact SUV concept christened Adra at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. It has been designed entirely by Indian designers at the GM technical centre in Bangalore and has a very Mini Countryman-esque form. The design of the Adra was penned using Chevrolet’s global design language and if it makes it to production, will compete against the Ford EcoSport compact SUV and a host of new sub-4 metre SUVs that will be unveiled today at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo by other car manufacturers.
Maruti has started accepting bookings for its upcoming Celerio at Rs 10,000
The Maruti Celerio has created quite a stir even before it’s unveiling and capitalizing on the buzz around the car. Maruti has started accepting bookings for the same at Rs 10,000. The car hasn’t reached the showrooms yet but once it is unveiled at the Auto Expo, it will be on display at all the Maruti showrooms towards the end of next week. We know one may think, what if the car does not lives upto the expectations? Worry not, the dealers will return your booking amount after deducting a small processing fee since you haven’t seen the car in flesh.
Maruti is known to build a large lot of cars prior to its launch so that it can flood the market with as many new cars as possible. They believe in the publicity gained by word of mouth concept. So more cars on the road means more owners to speak about their new car. According to dealers a large number of enquiries are already pouring in and the booking numbers are expected to be on a high.
A few days ago, we revealed all the details on the all-new compact hatchback from Maruti-Suzuki, the Celerio. The 2014 Maruti-Suzuki Celerio, will be priced somewhere around the Rs 4-lakh mark and will feature the same 1.0-litre engine from the likes of the Alto K10 and the WagonR but with a few upgrades. The 2014 Maruti-Suzuki will also feature the new AMT (Automatic Manual Transmission), which mimics an automatic transmission but uses a conventional manual transmission at the same time. The Celerio will soon replace the aging Zen Estilo and the non-performing Maruti-Suzuki A-Star and will be available in four variants, LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi with ABS.

No matter how many they launch, but every new small car from Maruti never fails to attract attention. This time it is the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, a 3600mm long and 1600mm wide hatchback which will take on the Hyundai i10. The Celerio, which sits on a 2425mm wheelbase, will plug the gap the poor performing A-star and the Zen Estilo have left in Maruti’s otherwise impregnable small car fortress. The Celerio is expected to carry a starting price tag of Rs 3.8 lakh, ex-showroom in Delhi with the price rising to Rs 4.9 lakh for the top of the version. All versions of the Celerio, however, will only be powered by a petrol engine and there are no plans to launch for a diesel variant either.
The Celerio might only come with one engine but there will be an option to choose between a manual and an automatic. The manual is a 5-speed gearbox while the automatic is essentially a clutchless manual. The Celerio will be available in three trim levels – Lxi, Vxi and Zxi – with the Zxi being the top of the line version. One will be able to order the Lxi and the Vxi trims with either the manual or what Maruti calls its semi automatic – the Auto Gear Shift tech, the Zxi trim will only be available with a manual gearbox.

The 5 Series GT never did well in India. It was meant to sit between the regular 5 Series and the 7 Series to plug a gap that no one saw till BMW mentioned it existed. But, the 5 GT courtesy being an import was just too expensive. It wasn't good looking either, so the aspirational bit went out the window as well. No wonder it failed.

After a flurry of interesting concepts shown to the world around 2010-11 like the Dezir, Captur and R-Space, Renault design hasn’t been that active in the past few years but that’s about to change because the French carmaker will unveil a new concept to the world at the Indian Auto Expo. While the company hasn’t revealed any details on this concept, it is going to be showcased for the first time and that speaks a lot about the growing importance of the Indian Auto Expo.
Datsun has released a sketch of the concept that will premiere at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo in February. Till now, Datsun was tight-lipped about its car line-up in India and we only knew the Go and Go+ were slated to go on sale here but we are looking at a full scale range expansion in the near future if this concept makes it to production.

The next generation Corolla will be launched in India by June. According to reports, Toyota has halted production of the Altis and we believe this is to clear stock of the existing car as Toyota plans to introduce the new Corolla post the Auto Expo around May-June.
While the Corolla is the best selling car in history, in India the entry-luxury segment hasn’t quite been a number churner and as a result, the Corolla along-with its competitors have managed a few hundred units each at best every month. The Altis though was successfully clocking between 300-400 units every month. With the new Elantra and Octavia fighting for market share and upping the aspiration value with their new-age design, the Altis finally had to be replaced by the new Corolla.

Audi has officially revealed that it will showcase the A3 sedan, RS7 and the R18 e-Tron Quattro Le Mans racer
Audi will showcase the A3 sedan at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo next month. The A3 sedan is due to be launched sometime later this year so the Expo will be a good platform for Audi to display the car to the Indian audience.
