Geneva 2014: Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 unleashed

Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 officially makes its public debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show
The Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 is all set to succeed its predecessor, the Lamborghini Gallardo, which rocked the roads for almost a decade. The Gallardo was Lamborghini’s most successful model in its forty years run with sales of 14,022 units. The Italian car manufacturer claims to have raked over 1,000 bookings for their Huracan even before its official launch in the past two months.
The Lamborghini Huracan borrows its design cues from its bigger brother- the Aventador. The car flaunts bold exteriors with smooth silhouette. Up front, it gets full LED headlamps, which the Italian manufacturer claims are a first in this class of supercars. The new car sits on 20-inch wheels and is stopped via carbon-ceramic brakes.

Angular sills protruding in the front of rear wheel arches are responsible for the car’s lower cooling. A wide outlet runs through the posterior of the car from its rear ends, and provides ventilation to the engine bay. The four line diffuser is flanked by twin tail pipes at either ends.

Koenigsegg Agera One:1 to be unleashed at Geneva

The Swedish car manufacturer, Koenigsegg, is set to reveal their Koenigsegg Agera One:1 car at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show
The race between the motoring giants to produce the fastest running vehicles is raging with each passing day. The Swedish car manufacturer, Koenigsegg, however seems to have taken a lead in this race with the launch of their new car. The carmaker is set to unveil their Koenigsegg Agera One:1 at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show which they proclaim to be the world’s fastest mega car.
The car is christened as One:1 keeping in mind an important aspect. The weight of the car is equivalent to its power. Yes, you heard it right. The car weighs 1,340kg and produces a good 1,340PS of power. The design cues of the Koenigsegg Agera will be carried over to the Koenigsegg Agera One:1. The new car will inherit design elements such as the small LED framed rear lights and an oversized central exhaust from its predecessor.

The car is lighter in weight as compared to Koenigsegg Agera due to the extensive use of carbon-fibre. The One:1 sits on 20-inches carbon-fibre wheels on the front and rear ends. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a bespoke seven-speed dual clutch box and electronic differential.

Rolls-Royce Teases Ghost Series II Ahead of Geneva Debut

Rolls-Royce has released the first teaser photo of its facelifted Ghost sedan, or Ghost Series II as the British carmaker elegantly calls it. Rolls-Royce is known for not operating major styling changes when its models reach their mid-life, and that was confirmed two years ago when the Phantom Series II models were introduced.
The same approach is expected for the Ghost as well, especially since the facelift comes much sooner for the BMW 7-Series-based sedan than for the Phantom. The brand’s flagship sedan saw its first restyling nine years after its introduction, while the Ghost has only entered its fifth year on the market.
The teaser photo released by Rolls-Royce was joined by a short description saying: “After five years as the cornerstone of Rolls-Royce’s sustainable growth success worldwide, this mid-life update is a showcase for the most recent technological advances from Rolls-Royce enrobed in a considered exterior design revision.”

New Volvo Concept Estate is Too Pretty to Remain a Study

Detailed look at the new Volvo Concept Estate after photos of the Geneva Motor Show-bound study were published online.
The short story is that, Volvo's third study after the 2013 Concept Coupe and 2014 Concept XC compact crossover is the shooting brake version of the former, with the press details given focusing on the look and technology of the interior that will be first applied on the XC90 SUV.
Just below the beltline and with some exceptions like the front grille, the rear diffuser, and the bumper trims, the Estate is identical to the gripping Coupe. Most changes happen right above where the sleek roofline is replaced by a full-length roof with see-through panes and a hatch-like tailgate. And much in the same way that the Coupe was inspired by the 1970s P1800, the Estate echoes the design of the shooting brake-style 1800ES.

Naturally, the biggest difference inside is the extra space behind the front seats. However, Volvo did alter certain elements, such as the instrument panel that ditches the separate binnacles and replaces them with a single digital cluster, and added a sweet looking, tweed-like material on the back of the seats and the headliner.
As we said earlier, in the preliminary release, Volvo placed a lot of emphasis in the interior stating the design as well as the layout, feel and ergonomics, point to the path it will follow in the next generation of models beginning with the XC90 that will be revealed in the fall of 2014.
A centerpiece of the interior re-think is the elimination of as many traditional buttons as possible and their replacement with a large tablet-like touch screen control panel in the center console, with a small row of switchgear positioned just under for "crucial" functions like volume, play/pause, hazard warning and window heaters.
“The basic idea is to organise controls and information in a perfectly intuitive and user--‐ friendly way. Everything is exactly where you expect it to be, making the drive more enjoyable, efficient, and safe,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Senior Vice President Design from Volvo Car Group.
According to the Swedes, the new interface, which will be used on the next XC90, supports tablet-like functions such as swiping and pinching, and interacts with the adaptive digital display in front of the driver as well.
“Not having to deal with buttons and controls for a growing number of functionalities is like being freed from a pair of handcuffs,” stated Robin Page, Design Director Interior of Volvo Car Group.
Ingenlath pointed out that users will feel right home with the use of a large touchscreen, and that sounds about right if you're accustomed to tablet devices – it does, however, raise some concerns to as whether this solution will be ergonomic and safe in an non-distractive way for drivers.
“This goes far beyond just putting a large tablet in the centre of the dashboard," explains Ingenlath. "We have created a digital environment that is fully integrated in the car. Information, navigation and media are high up and easy to keep an eye on. The phone controls, application icons and climate controls are located low, comfortable to reach and touch. Using the screen is so logical that it will be part of your muscle memory very quickly."
And that about rounds it up, but before I shut down, let me say this: I understand that S60s and XC90s is what Volvo needs to survive as a company in the very competitive premium (ish) world, but if it wants to be taken seriously by enthusiasts and people who can carry the word around, it needs to build cars (with the appropriate performance and handling characteristics, of course) like the Concept Estate and Coupe. Give people something to crave about your brand. It might not fill your coffers, but if done right, it will earn you something far more valuable: respect.

VisionC Concept is Skoda's Idea of an Audi A7 Sportback

Following the teaser rendering released earlier this month, Skoda has now shown the first photos of the VisionC study, scheduled to debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Skoda says the VisionC is its first "five-door coupe", but the carmaker doesn’t give up its practical side though, as the study features a large hatch.
With the VisionC Skoda says its design language becomes “more expressive, dynamic and emotional”. Furthermore, the study also demonstrates the possibilities in “innovative and emotional chassis design”, always according to Skoda.
The study features sharp lines combined with soft, slightly contoured concave and convex surfaces. The front end plays with the triangle shape, which can be seen in the design of the headlights and fog lights, while at the rear the boomerang-shaped taillights appear to push the car to the ground. The tailights also form a triangle together with a crease in the bodywork and they reveal another triangle when they are viewed from the side.

Citroën C1 Swiss & Me Study is a Funky Display of the City Car’s Customizing Potential

Alongside the all-new Citroën C1 that was previewed a few days ago, the French carmaker’s Geneva Motor Show booth will also host the first special edition of the city car – albeit in concept form.
The Citroën C1 Swiss & Me concept car shows the customizing potential for the little mini car and proudly bears Switzerland’s national colors as a nod to the city of Geneva, the venue for its world debut.
The customized C1 features a two-tone effect, with the red roof featuring with the Swiss flag being complemented by the pearl white body. Based on the three-door version of the C1, the study features add-ons like the wing extensions and fixed side member, larger wheels and a central tailpipe on the rear bumper.

Mazda teases the Hazumi concept ahead of Geneva debut

Mazda is set to reveal their subcompact concept car, the Mazda Hazumi, at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show
The Japanese car maker, Mazda, will unveil their next-generation subcompact concept car, the Mazda Hazumi, at the Geneva Motor Show this year. Mazda will also showcase their small-displacement new diesel engine, the SkyActiv-D1.5 on the Swiss podium.
The word Hazumi finds its meaning as ‘bound’ or ‘spring-up’ in Japanese. The Japanese manufacturer conveys the image of Hazumi as a car which is bursting with energy. The car will adopt Mazda’s Kodo design language and is expected to offer roomier interiors.
Hazumi will become the fourth model under the Japanese car maker’s SkyActiv philosophy. The SkyActiv is a series of technology developed by Mazda which increases the car’s fuel efficiency and engine output. Mazda CX5, Mazda3 and Mazda 6 are the cars that are built-up on this technology.

McLaren 650S revealed

McLaren's third model, the 650S will slot in between the 12C and the P1 hypercar and will officially be revealed at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show
McLaren has taken the wraps off its brand new supercar, the McLaren 650S at a private presentation in London. The new McLaren 650S slots in between the McLaren 12C supercar and the McLaren P1 hypercar and should be priced around Rs 2.5-3.0 crore (exclusive of taxes and shipping). The 650S will take on the likes of the Ferrari 458 Speciale and the Lamborghini Aventador amongst others.
The new McLaren 650S looks like a crossbreed between the McLaren MP4-12C and the McLaren P1 from a design standpoint. The new 650S takes cues from the P1 for its frontal nose and bumper design while looking quite similar to the MP4-12C from the rear end. While many have criticised McLaren for loosing the design plot, we think this new ‘family face’ looks quite striking and goes well with the clean and performance oriented design that McLaren are known for.

New Honda Civic Type R to make Geneva debut

Honda has released a dramatic new picture of the all-new Honda City Type R, which will make its global debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show
With the Geneva Motor show just a forthnight away, Honda has teased the first ever picture of the new 2015 Honda Civic Type R. The Honda Civic Type R is one of the most legendary hot hatchbacks in the world and is often said to be one of the best front-wheel-drive cars made. Currently in its 4th generation, the new 5th generation Honda Civic Type R, which will officially go on sale in 2015 and make its much-awaited global debut at the Geneva Motor show.
2015 Honda Civic Type R

A first glance at the picture makes most Honda fans heave a sigh of relief. The outlandish design that made the likes of the Type-3 Honda Civic Type R a favourite are back. Calling it a race car for the roads, the designers at Honda have gone kamikaze with their design incorporating wild bodywork into the design. From the picture, what immediately comes to notice are the wide wheel arches and the integrated large rear spoiler that seamlessly fuses into the tail lamps of the new Honda Civic Type R.
Type R logo
The Honda Civic Type R has always features the VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) and later iVTEC engine, which uses different camshaft profiles to produce extra power when it's needed. This new model should be quicker and more efficient than before, thanks to the new Turbo VTEC engines but should make the car a very different beast to drive as compared to older generations of this legendary hot hatchback. The 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine is expected to produce about 300PS of power and 400Nm of peak torque. 0-100kmph times are expected to be around the 6 second mark making it go up against the equally capable Volkswagen Golf GTi.

SsangYong XLV concept
Although SsangYong is yet to reveal the car's interior, what interests us is the fact that it has not three but fours row of seating  in  a 2+2+2+1 arrangement that will help accommodate seven passengers. Apart from the regular three rows of two seats each, an extra seat will slide between the second and the third rows.
